HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – RecruitUS has officially announced plans to expand into the sport of cross country with the 2018 RecruitUS Collegiate Cross Country Showcase set to take place Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Lake St. Clair Metropark in Harrison Township, Mich.
The event will give high school cross country runners the opportunity to compete in front of a plentiful amount of college programs with hopes of getting recruited to the next level.
“We are beyond thrilled at RecruitUS to expand into the sport of cross country,” said RecruitUS Vice President Cole Paczas. “Lake St. Clair Metropark is a beautiful location for such an event as our runners will be outlining a peninsula-like track with the water from Lake St. Clair on all sides of them.”
The course will consist of two laps in a relatively flat surface, allowing runners to showcase their speed while catching the satisfying lake wind that will be coming in on a hot August day.
Event registration opens to coaches ($20) on January, while player registration ($50) opens up on February 1. The event will max out at 500 runners and 50 colleges with Friday, July 20 serving as the registration deadline. All registration for the event can be completed online through the RecruitUS Eventbrite Page.
With the addition of cross country, RecruitUS now has three sports planned for the 2018 calendar year with the Collegiate Bowling Showcase taking place in May and the Collegiate Golfing Showcase taking place in July.
